Born in New Zealand, Tony moved to Brisbane when he was 21 years old to work as a radio copywriter.
From there, his career in Australia grew to working on TV comedies The D Generation and The Late Show, as well as radio’s Martin/Molloy. He created the radio comedy Get This, hosted A Quiet Word with…and directed episodes of Upper Middle Bogan.
As well as working in TV and radio, Tony featured in the 1977 movie Sleeping Dogs.
He also wrote, produced and directed the 2003 comedy movie Bad Eggs, as well as playing minor roles in films including The Castle, Tackle Happy and Crackerjack.
