FLOAT is thrilled to welcome artist Gordon Bain back to East Gippsland to collaborate on a beautiful exhibition of bird-inspired work, made especially for the FLOAT community.
And the best thing is – all proceeds are being donated by Gordon to FLOAT, to support the work done in Lakes Entrance – activating creative community spaces, supporting emerging makers and nature inspired artists.
“For years I’ve worked on plywood board – the process involves scratching and scraping right into the painting’s surface,” Gordon said.
“When the possibility of using cardboard for this project was first raised I was concerned that it might not stand up to being worked on quite so vigorously. That hasn’t been the case and I’ve been able to sand and scrape away to my heart’s content.”
The result is a unique and affordable collection for local art lovers, created to help FLOAT achieve its goal of creating active community spaces.
“We hope everyone will be here next weekend to meet Gordon, see him at work and help us sell the entire collection,” FLOAT’s Andrea Lane said.
“We have also produced a 20-page Zine to accompany the show. These small art books are designed by the apprentice FLOAT Zine team who are learning to produce, print and publish their own stories then printed here in East Gippsland.”
The exhibition will run from Saturday, March 15 to Sunday, March 23, 10am to 3pm every day.
An artist talk and demo will be held at noon on Saturday, March 15.
