Maintain ground cover to protect soils

by

in Primary Producer

“Soil Management Systems specialise in soil and plant nutrition with an emphasis on healthy living productive soils producing mineral rich foods giving farmers greater satisfaction with less stress in a healthier productive environment.

“I always remind farmers that there is no one magical product but with comprehensive soil audits looking at the mineral balance, physical aspects and biological functions.

“At Soil Management Systems our core product is what has been described as the most mineral rich fertiliser known to man which is Seabird Guano.

“Because there was no research done on Guano in Australia although there was in the US, SMS invested in independent research and trials over a number of years by Microbiology Laboratories Australia in acid and alkaline soils.”

These are the conclusions of these trials by Dr Ashley Martin.

SMS Guano was demonstrated to be a superior replacement for chemical P fertilisers in terms of growth, yield, microbiological interactions and soil health.

Growth benefits in wheat plants fertilised with SMS Guano were likely related to improved soil microbial status:

– Higher VAM biomass in soil fertilised with SMS Guano compared to TSP was likely due to continued biological release, and therefore more VAM friendly form of P in SMS Guano.

– SMS Guano fertilization resulted in higher levels of many soil health indicators and microbial status compared to MAP, DAP, TSP and SSP+Urea.

– SMS Guano produced positive responses in both alkaline and acid soils.

Soil Management Systems has all your soil and plant nutrition needs with a warehouse in Melbourne fully stocked.
