The Just a Farmer Movie and Fun Day on Sunday, March 30, at the Buchan Hall is shaping up to be an even more impactful community event, with a panel discussion and an extra screening now scheduled.
This event will create a welcoming space to encourage open conversations about rural mental health and the challenges faced by farming communities.
The Just a Farmer movie screening, a compelling drama by VAM Paddock Productions, will be followed by a panel discussion featuring community leaders and mental health advocates.
Live music, children’s activities and catering will make this an event for the whole family.
Agribusiness consultant Chris Jehu will introduce the evening, acknowledging Country and
highlighting the agencies in attendance.
The one-hour, 43-minute screening will be followed by a panel discussion and include insights from professionals and individuals with lived experiences in farming communities:
– Carlee Harvey – Bairnsdale Horse Centre, TIACS and Dolly’s Dream advocate
– Amy Rogers – Fifth generation Gelantipy farmer
– Jakqui Barnfield – Executive director, international programs, quality and research, mental health First Aid Australia
Attendees will then be able to connect with the support networks and services and each other have the opportunity to talk and share while listing to live music by Mamma Dee Trio: from 4pm and enjoy a baked potato and drink from Guiltfree Gourmet and a cuppa and cake served by
members of the Buchan Heritage Group.
A second screening has added at 6.30pm due to community
interest.
