Round two of the Australian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park was tough going for local racer Olly Short, who was still coming to terms with the side effects from a dangerous collision at Phillip Island in round one.
Sydney Motorsport Park has the undisputed statues as the flagship event of the Australian Superbike Championship, with racing conducted under lights at night on the 3.9 kilometre grand prix circuit.
The track is illuminated by 138 light towers, making for spectacular racing for both riders and spectators.
Short struggled for pace after no time in the seat since the Island incident.
He qualified in 10th place and struggled in the first race, crossing the line in 10th.
Short began to feel like his old self in race two, finding some speed, though the going was tough starting back in the grind among the traffic.
He worked hard for a sixth place spot in race two, before blowing a clutch in race three and not finishing.
He found adapting to the new Dunlop wets also played with his confidence, with each session changing the setup of the bike.
Short is looking forward to getting some training underway, in readiness for round three of the 2025 Championship will be held at the Queensland Raceway on May 2-4.
