The AFLW Hawks, a finalist last season, were in town last week, endearing everyone with their humility, as they begin an arduous pre-season, which they hope might result in ultimate glory.
Hawthorn conducted a two day camp in East Gippsland engaging with local schools and Auskick centres, hoping to inspire the next generation of footballers and promoting the growth of women’s football in the region.
The girls visited Orbost Community College and Lochiel Park, where they left an everlasting impression on footballers of both sexes.
Their ability to communicate and relate to every person they met and encountered, seeing fans, new and old, keen to hear any hints that will make them better footballers and humans going forward.
The Hawks left town with more fans than they arrived with, with the youngsters keen to see what the stars they met will achieve when the AFLW action kicks off in August.
