Last Thursday’s social bowls was held in cool overcast conditions with 11 players taking to the greens.

Three teams of three and another of two, duelled for supremacy.

The rain, perfectly timed, held off until everyone had packed up.

A close competition meant there were no two game winners, however, on a count back it was the pair team of Lyn O’Brien (skip) and Scott Farnell who scored the kudos.

Sunday social bowls was played in near perfect sunny conditions with a light cool breeze.

Twelve players competed in round three of the monthly scroungers competition, a terrific format that sees each player battling everyone else for the most points.

The top three scorers of the day were Ron Hatcher with 55 points, Trevor Perry with 58 and with the highest score being Geoff Lynn on 66 points.

After three rounds, the top trio on the ladder are Lynn (120), Greg Rankin (116) and Ralph Harding (109).

The three players with the highest average score per round are Geoffery Robinson (71), Karen Chenney and Lynn both tied on 60.

The next social bowls afternoon will be on Thursday, where anyone is welcome to attend, whether they are beginners or experienced bowlers, you just need to be at the club by 12.30pm.

DRILLS & SKILLS

The second morning of drills and skills with Ron Hatcher was held on Saturday morning in perfect weather until a strong breeze picked up towards the end of the session.

Attendance was slightly down from the previous week, however, there were plenty of apologies from bowlers caught up with other commitments.

Hatcher covered several areas, initially concentrating on delivery, then putting the bowlers through various activities along with individual coaching when necessary.

The next session will be Saturday morning, starting at 10am, weather permitting.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of their level

of expertise.

Thursday’s Social Bowls winning combination was Scott Farnell and Lyn O’Brien. (PS)
