Orbost Snowy Rovers thirds carried on their impressive start to the season with a clinical dissection of Lucknow in round six of the East Gippsland Football Netball League at the Lucknow Recreation Reserve last Saturday.
The Blues sit in third place on the ladder, with 20 points, a match behind the
unbeaten Lakes Entrance and Lindenow.
Orbost was out of blocks quickly, kicking six unanswered goals in a frantic first term, the young Blues playing with plenty of poise and confidence, led by the numerous who have had recent exposure to senior football.
Bobby Bills and Fletcher Kleinitz (two goals each), were busy around the football, their creativity bringing other talented youngsters into the contest.
The freakishly talented Kruze Farley (nine) and Angus Joiner (six) were unstoppable up forward, feasting on the fruits of dominant midfield, and miserly half back line.
The Blues led by 42 points at half time, before turning the blow torch up another gear in the second half, kicking 12 goals to two, winners by an ever increasing 105 points.
Best players were plentiful but the coaching staff thought Kleinitz, Bills, Joiner, Kruze Farley and Cooper Findley were all standouts.
It was a disappointing result in the reserves, with the Blues suffering their second loss of the season, humbled by the Magpies to the tune of 61 points.
Lucknow was slick and well drilled, restricting the Blues to just one major for the afternoon in the second term, kicked by Jayden Price.
Tye Robinson, Andrew Kenny, Hugh Barnes, Jamie Welsh, Kyle Derbyshire and Hayden Kenny all tried hard for Orbost.
Despite the loss, the Blues are still fourth on the ladder, eight points clear of the fifth side, Lakes Entrance, who are on the same points as Lindenow and Wy Yung.
Orbost Snowy Rovers will host Boisdale-Briagolong at Lochiel Park this Saturday, the Bombers embarking on the competitions biggest road trip.
