With several members away, there was only a small gathering of bowlers on a sunny yet chilly Thursday afternoon for social bowls.
The match committee decided on a single game of 16 ends with the winning team being Des Edwards (skip), Greg Rankin, Beryl Dyce and Dennis McCann, although with such a small group, the emphasis of the day leaned more to social than bowling.
However, despite cold, overcast weather and a distinct threat of rain, there was a surprisingly good turnout of bowlers on Sunday.
Two games were played, one of 10 ends and the other shortened to eight ends as the rain threat became real.
There were two teams that won both their games, so the match committee had to perform a countback.
The winning team with 18 points was Maurice Frank (skip), Ron Hatcher and McCann, with the runners-up being Dyce’s team of Vanessa Frank, Jan and Geoff Lynn who scored 15 points.
DRILLS AND SKILLS
Saturday’s Drills and Skill with Ron Hatcher was again well attended despite the cold yet sunny weather.
The coaching lessons are proving popular with both new and experienced bowlers.
Drills and Skills is free and starts at 10am every Saturday morning, weather permitting, and lasts for approximately one hour.
SPONSORSHIP
The Orbost Bowls Club would like to send a big thank you to the Friends of Orbost Op Shop for their generous sponsorship.
Carol Moore from the Op Shop came to the Club last Thursday afternoon prior to Social Bowls commencing and presented the sponsorship cheque to long term Club member Geoff Lynn.
