Orbost Snowy Rovers maintained its hold on third place on the East Gippsland Junior Football Association ladder, with a hard fought victory over Lindenow last Sunday at the Lindenow Recreation Reserve.
The Blues led at every change, turning a two-point half time advantage into a 10-point, three quarter time lead, which was maintained to the finish, literally, with neither side troubling the scorers in the final term.
Kayden Smith starred for Orbost, kicking three of his team’s five goals, joined in the best by Jasper Anderson, Isabella-Rose Burt and Noah Hanratty.
The Blues were competitive in the first half of the under 15 match, but the talented Cats kicked seven goals in the second half, while Orbost could only just muster two.
Lindenow ran out easy 54-point winners, with Jarrah Morrison leading the goal kickers for the Blues with three, while Jimmy Hardy and Daniel Martin both contributed two each.
Hardy, Charlie Joiner, Lachlan Robinson, Lachlan Carey and Morrison made up the better players.
Orbost Snowy Rovers will host Lakes Entrance in the local derby at Lochiel Park this Sunday.
