Maddy Butler, campaign director from The Parenthood recently conducted a road trip across East Gippsland over three days to hear stories from families and services around the struggles and experiences of accessing childcare in rural communities and to hear what would be helpful for communities to feed in to their advocacy with Federal and State Governments to improve access to quality childcare in regional, rural and remote communities.
Kayla Enzinger and Rachael Dooley from the Orbost Early Years Project joined Maddy on the road trip with visits in Mallacoota, Cann River, Orbost, Swifts Creek and Bairnsdale.
Thirty-one families shared their stories and 14 organisations were involved across the three days.
Maddy will compile a briefing paper that will be shared with Ministers in July along with a meeting scheduled with Darren Chester to
also share the insights from the trip.
If you would like to share your own story, you can contact Maddy via email or phone (details via the Snowy River Mail office).
