Although Thursday’s social bowls was held in cool and occasionally breezy weather, the afternoon was still well attended.

Two games of eight ends each was organised with a clear winner as only one team won both their games.

The winning triple was skipped by Greg Rankin, ably assisted by Vanessa Frank and Dennis McCann.

The last round of the current monthly Scroungers competition was held last Sunday.

As usual, the popular competition brought out the bowlers even though the conditions were cool and overcast.

The highest point scorers for the day were Geoff Lynn 66, Ron Hatcher 60 and Jurgen Fichtner 59.

After this final round, Rankin topped the leaderboard with an aggregate score of 341, Maurice Frank held second position with 290 and Lynn with 271 came in third.

The next afternoon of social bowls will be on Thursday.

DRILLS AND SKILLS

Saturday’s Drills and Skills session was well attended with bowlers appreciating the perfect bowling conditions.

The coaching session for the season will be held on Saturday commencing at 10am.

PENNANT SEASON 2025/26

Unfortunately, the first pennant practice match at Bruthen had to be cancelled but the second match at Metung will still be held on October 11.

The day will commence with a barbecue lunch organised by the Metung Bowls Club with the practice match played in the afternoon.

Regardless of whether a bowler has played pennant before, all Orbost club members are welcome to add their name to the player list on the notice board outside the club house.
