In late August, the Gippsland Ag Group appointed Leecia Angus as its executive chair. The decision to introduce an executive chair role was made by the Gippsland Ag Group board as the most appropriate way to achieve its leadership and governance objectives over the next three years.
GAgG general manager, Jen Smith, said Leecia had served on a number of boards and had a background in science and finance, is a graduate of the Australian Rural Leadership Program and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
“Leecia returned to East Gippsland in 2019 after a career spanning Australian Wool Innovation, the Grains Research and Development Corporation and more than 10 years consulting in the agriculture sector across Australia,” Jen said.
“She grew up on her family farm in Goon Nure and brings to the role extensive agricultural sector experience as well as strategy development, a proven track record in leading change in implementing good governance processes, and also in developing a high performing team.”
Leecia said she was delighted to be selected for this role and is looking forward to building on the great work to date of the many passionate volunteers and the professional team in Gippsland Ag Group.
New GAgG board members include Neil Stringer and Madi Gallagher, while long standing members Ken White, Sam Richardson and Trent Anderson have stepped aside but will continue to stay involved in projects.
