After an almost faultless start to the season, Orbost Cricket Club will be keen to get its 2025/26 Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) campaign back on track after a recent defeat and rain washout.
But unfortunately the “A” graders will have to wait another week, scheduled for a bye in round seven of the BCA, their next match at the Lindenow South Oval on November 22 when they take on the Bulls.
Orbost impressed defeating West Bairnsdale, Paynesville, St Mary’s Nagle and Lakes Entrance in the first four rounds, before a glitch against a rampant Wy Yung and then spending last week watching the rain fall.
The Blues have picked up a couple of handy imports in Luke Humphries and Joshua Court, who both are blessed with plenty of ability with bat and ball.
Humphries has impressed at the top of the order and looks capable of scoring some serious runs when the grounds continue to get faster.
Court has impressed with his spinners, complementing the Orbost attack which is lead by Nick Davis and Humphries.
They are not short on options with players like Luke Endley, Curtley Farley and the Hulme brothers capable with bat and ball.
It will be interesting to see how the Blues handle the shift in momentum when play resumes for them – three or four weeks can be a long time in country cricket.
