Over the past six months, Mitchell Farley has been working closely with Lou Ciriello from Ciriello’s Coaching Academy (CCA) in Melbourne, dedicating himself to further developing his hockey skills and capabilities.
His commitment and growth were rewarded in September when Farley was selected to represent the CCA.
Joining 17 other talented players from Victoria, South Australia and Queensland, Farley trained under the expert guidance of coaches Ryan Ciriello and Dan Godfrey.
This opportunity marks an exciting step forward in his hockey journey, offering him the chance to sharpen his skills, compete alongside some of the best young players in Australia and Internationally, and continue striving toward his full potential.
The KMBS Youth International Gryphon Cup was held in Perth from November 20-23, with Australia youngsters, taking on strong international sides from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Korea, making it a truly global celebration of youth hockey.
This under 16 tournament for boys and girls ran across four days, showcasing
elite youth competition at its finest, providing a platform for aspiring players to compete, improve and connect with fellow hockey enthusiasts from across the globe.
It was an invaluable opportunity to experience hockey at an international level.
Farley proudly shared with fellow players that he was from Orbost and in a memorable gesture of friendship, he exchanged his player shirt with a Japanese teammate – capturing the spirit of camaraderie and cultural connection that defines both CCA and the Gryphon Cup.
This tournament marks the completion of Farley’s remarkable hockey journey for 2025, where he has competed at Country, State and International levels – a testament to his dedication, growth and passion for the game.
