The Cann River community turned out in force on Sunday, May 10, to support breast cancer research, marking the town’s third successful Mother’s Day Classic.
Twenty-eight participants walked and ran for the cause, raising nearly $350 through on-the-day donations alone.
This figure is expected to rise significantly once official registration fees are added to the tally, with a final fundraising total anticipated by the end of June.
Organisers described the morning as “incredible,” noting that the event’s success was a direct reflection of the town’s tight-knit nature.
The event was a true community effort, with families, friends, and volunteers coming together to cheer on participants.
A special note of thanks was reserved for local resident Mick Connley, who volunteered his time to clear and prepare the walking track, ensuring the course was safe and ready for the morning’s activities.
The Mother’s Day Classic is a nationwide event, but in smaller townships like Cann River, it serves as a vital touchpoint for connection, fitness, and local philanthropy.
Organisers are already looking toward the future, thanking the town for its continued generosity and confirming the event will return next year.
