The Orbost Arts Centre (OAC) is preparing to transform its gallery into a realm of wonder and whimsy with the announcement of its upcoming community art show, Enchanted.
Running from June 5 through to July 31, the exhibition invites artists of all ages from across East Gippsland to bring their personal myths and magical imaginations to life.
The theme encourages a deep dive into the world of magic and mystery, ranging from the classic “Once upon a time” tropes to entirely original creations.
Visitors can expect a diverse landscape of story themes, featuring everything from magical castles, princesses, and princes to the more shadows-filled corners of dark forests, giants, and gnomes.
Organisers are anticipating a mix of 2D and 3D works, blending well-known fairy tales with lesser-known folklore and strange animals from the far reaches of human imagination.
Join the centre to see the diversity and the power of personal myth becoming real.
The art displayed will be made to delight those seeking wonder and whimsy.
The exhibition is designed to be inclusive, celebrating the talent of the entire East Gippsland region regardless of age or experience level.
To heighten the community spirit, the OAC will host the People’s Choice Awards, which will be presented on the closing night of the show to recognise the most beloved pieces as voted by the public.
The opening night festivities will kick off on June 5, providing a first look at the “Happily ever after” visions of local creatives.
The OAC is currently seeking entries in a wide variety of mediums.
Local artists can submit their 2D or 3D creations online, via email, or in person at the centre.
Entry forms are currently available at the OAC front desk or can be downloaded from the official Orbost Arts Centre website.
