A smaller number of bowlers braved the cold and very windy overcast conditions last Thursday afternoon at Orbost Bowling Club.
Social bowls is currently free as no green fees will be charged through June and July.
The format for the afternoon was three bowl triples with two games of 10 ends.
Despite the difficulty bowling in the heavy wind, two teams managed to win both of their games, and after a countback, the winning triple was declared as Bruce Kneebone, Jurgen Fichtner and Lyn O’Brien.
Played in beautiful sunny weather, Sunday’s social bowls was very well attended, particularly considering the time of year.
It was decided to play two bowl triples with three games of six ends, with the winning triple for the afternoon was, Geoff Lynn (skip), Beryl Dyce and Annette Grmusa.
The next social bowls will be on Thursday, however, please note that you will need to be at the club prior to 11.30am.
The change is due to the problem of sun and long shadows late in the afternoon when playing east/west.
The first game will start at 12pm, followed by a late bring your own lunch, with any other games commencing after lunch.

DRILLS AND SKILLS
There was a slightly lower attendance of bowlers last Saturday morning, with several regulars away.
The coach, Ron Hatcher stressed the importance of the correct delivery of the jack to ensure it comes to rest where the skip wants it to be.
After several ends of practice with the jack, members were put into pairs to compete in a game simulation, where they could again practice with the jack as well as work on their lessons from last week, not cross the head with their bowls.
The next Drills and Skills will be on Saturday, commencing sharp at 10am.
