Last Saturday, Federal Member for Gippsland, Darren Chester had the honour of hitting the first ball on the course after the completion of the redevelopment.Chester helped to secure almost $2 million funding following the Black Summer bushfires.
“The new facilities are a credit to the volunteers, designers, tradespeople and everyone who played a role in redeveloping the course into a links-style layout which provides a challenge for players of all levels,” Mr Chester said.
Chester was delighted by club officials to hit the official first ball, but joked he was more stressed with the one-wood than when he tee-offs in Federal Parliament. The Mallacoota Golf Course is a hub for the community with a growing junior’s program and a friendly bistro.
