Road rehabilitation works on a 1.6-kilometre section of Corringle Road in Newmerella have now been completed by contractors Fulton Hogan and Hiway.
The project used an innovative rehabilitation method that recycled the existing road pavement by combining it with cement and foamed bitumen before applying a new 120 mm layer of crushed rock.
By reusing the existing pavement, the project avoided the need to produce and transport around 8000 tonnes of crushed rock, reducing the environmental impact of the works.
The approach also allowed the project to be completed in just seven days, minimising disruption for road users.
