The Snowy River Sprint is set to return in September, with tarmac rally drivers and motorsport lovers from across the country gearing up for the high-octane event. The sprint is expected to deliver a welcome surge in trade across Orbost, Bete Belong and surrounding districts.

Tarmac rally drivers and motorsport enthusiasts from across Australia are gearing up for high-octane action as the annual Snowy River Sprint returns to regional roads.

Organised by Australian Tarmac Rally, the multi-stage event will transform local thoroughfares into a demanding motorsport arena from Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13. Teams will undergo documentation and scrutineering on the Friday before tackling two full days of high-speed closed-road competition on Saturday and Sunday.

The course itinerary spans 18 competitive special stages across the weekend.

Drivers will test their limits on familiar local stretches and surrounding forest routes, including runs along Stony Creek, Jonkers Road, Sandy Point Track, and Painted Line Track, alongside long-distance stages passing the Buchan CFA.

Roads along the competitive routes will be closed to the public from 7am to 5.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday to ensure the safety of spectators, officials, and competitors.

Action kicks off on Saturday morning with a 7km shakedown stage before drivers tackle a series of technical runs, culminating in a demanding 16km leg back toward Buchan.

Sunday’s leg will push vehicle endurance even further, headlined by two marathon stages measuring over 36km and 37km each to decide the final standings before trophy presentations on Sunday afternoon.

The arrival of rally crews, support teams and spectators is expected to deliver a welcome surge in trade for local accommodation providers, eateries, and service stations across the Orbost, Bete Belong, and surrounding district townships throughout the event weekend.
