The Orbost Snowy Rovers juniors’ season culminated on Sunday at the Bairnsdale City Oval, with the playing of round 14 of the East Gippsland Junior Football Association.
Both the under 13 and 15 sides were competitive on the day against the Redlegs, who will participate in the finals series in the under 13s.
The Blues under 13 unit were keen to register their first win for the season, but it was always going to be a tough ask against a Bairnsdale team keen to impress in their final hit out before the elimination final.
Orbost played four consistent quarters and took the match right up to their opponent at times, but ultimately the Redlegs were too good on the day, winning comfortably by five goals, with William Griebenow, Sonny Marshall, Theodore Kuyper, Zayn Smith, and Jackson Faithfull among the better players for the Blues.
Bairnsdale was too good again in the under 15 contest, winning by 50 points, with Hunter Greaves, Angus Seal, Kayden Smith, Mitch Herbert, and Lachlan Robinson battling hard over four tough quarters for Orbost.
Presentation night will be held at Lochiel Park on August 7 from 6pm.
