The State Government has announced an extension to its vehicle registration rebate scheme, giving residents an additional month to claim cost-of-living relief.
Eligible Victorians now have until August 31 to apply for the 20 per cent registration discount.
According to government figures, more than 3.6 million Victorians have already accessed the rebate.
Under the scheme, a driver with one car can receive a rebate of up to $186, while a household with two registered vehicles can claim up to $372.
The full rebate is available to eligible applicants regardless of whether they pay their registration annually or in shorter-term instalments.
Minister for Government Services Ingrid Stitt highlighted the program’s reach and the decision to extend the application window.
“More than 3.6 million Victorians have already benefited from this rebate – now we’re making sure even more families and workers can access it,” Ms Stitt said.
To be eligible for the cash-back rebate, applicants must have paid their registration for a light vehicle for personal use between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026.
Claims are capped at a maximum of two vehicles registered in an individual’s name.
The Carroll Labor Government has framed the extension as part of its targeted cost-of-living support designed to ease pressure on household budgets.
Eligible drivers can find further information and submit their applications online by visiting the Service Victoria website or by downloading the official Service Victoria mobile app.
