For just the second time this season, Orbost Snowy Rovers have won all three football matches on the day, eclipsing Wy Yung in round 14 of East Gippsland football at Lochiel Park.
The performance of the Blues reserves was sensational, winning their fourth match of the season by 108 points over the Tigers, who are currently fourth on the ladder and a probable finalist.
Orbost came to play, kicking seven goals in a busy first quarter to open up a 34-point advantage at the first break.
The game was over by half time, with the home side up by 55 points after keeping the Tigers goalless in the second term.
Wy Yung kicked three goals in the second half but were no match for the Blues, who rammed home 11 in a remarkable performance.
There were plenty of stars up forward, led by Justin Smith, who kicked five goals while working well in tandem with Todd Gilmour (four).
Jacob Kane was busy, finishing with three goals, while Xavier Martin and Daniel Martin slotted a couple each.
Good players were easy to find in such a dominant victory, led by Callum Harrison, Jake Hartley, Kane, Andrew Kenny, Smith and Gilmour.
In the thirds, sixth-placed Orbost knocked off fifth-placed Wy Yung by three points in a thrilling finish, ending a late-season tilt at the finals for the Tigers.
Momentum changed several times throughout the contest. After an even first half, the home side opened up a 17-point lead at three quarter time after kicking four goals to one in a busy third term.
The Tigers weren’t done, fighting back strongly with their season on the line, but the Blues held firm to get home by three points in a grandstand finish.
Jack Barnes, Caleb Kenny, Xavier Martin and Daniel Martin all kicked two goals, with the best players being Rusty Morrison, Barnes, Beau Hanratty, Damien Mitchell, Will Craigie and Xavier Martin.
Orbost Snowy Rovers will do battle with their nearest neighbour and arch-rival, Lakes Entrance, this Saturday at Lakeside Oval.
