Despite challenging weather conditions, members of the Stratford and District Angling Club enjoyed a successful weekend trip to Hollands Landing recently.
While the fishing proved tougher than usual, attendees made the most of the outing with good company, shared stories, and a roaring campfire to keep the cold at bay.
Paul Mewha claimed victory in the senior section with a 39.5-centimetre bream, while Angus Toogood took top honours in the junior category with a 34.5-centimetre catch.
Following the success of the trip, the club is planning a new one-day competition at Hollands Landing in the near future. Designed for members unable to commit to a full weekend, the proposed event will feature fishing from 6am to 6pm on Saturday, capped off with an evening meal and presentation.
The Stratford and District Angling Club will hold its annual general meeting on Tuesday, August 4, at 7pm at the Stratford RSL.
