Orbost Hockey Club was in a celebratory mood last Saturday night when it hosted its annual trivia night.
Held for the first time at the Orbost Golf Club, the popular fundraising event set new benchmarks for attendance, with more than 120 participants across 15 teams.
Players and their families joined community members across a wide age range to test their general knowledge. Competition was intense, with frequent movement on the leaderboard as teams answered questions covering sports, movies, celebrities and music.
Only three points separated the top three teams at the end of the evening. “Only Duds” defied expectations to claim victory, narrowly edging ahead of “Bat Cave” and “The Baker’s Dozen” in the final stages.
Interspersed throughout the rounds were prize draws, with more than $4000 in gifts, vouchers and assorted prizes awarded to audience members — all donated by sponsors and local businesses.
With fun and fundraising goals both achieved, players and volunteers will now turn their attention back to the on-field action ahead of the upcoming finals series.
