There is still time to fill a shoebox for a needy child through Operation Christmas Child, one of the many projects of Samaritan’s Purse.
The international aid organisation works in more than 100 countries worldwide, delivering aid and hope to people struck by disaster, disease, poverty, famine and war.
2026 has been a very busy year for the organisation, with numerous earthquakes, severe floods sweeping away entire villages, typhoons, wars, the Ebola outbreak in Congo, and people displaced by war.
“It is a small thing to fill a box with everyday items and a few fun things – a big thing for a child who has nothing,” organisers said.
Collection date is from October 12 — just three weeks away.
Empty boxes are available from the Snowy River Mail office or from Vivienne, the Orbost co-ordinator.
