Several of Newmerella Primary School’s enthusiastic students and staff members lent a hand to the Orbost Landcare to plant 100 fire resistant trees, shrubs, and grasses last Wednesday.
Pleasant weather conditions set the perfect scene to help local landowners at Newmerella plant their maintained fire gardens.
“Students had a sensational time according to Ashlea in grade four and learnt a new word for the day – hydrophobic which meant that the soil could become scared of water if we over watered the plants,” said teacher Megan Sage.
