The Orbost Education Centre and Forget Me Not Studios have enjoyed partnerships in the past and have just commenced classes in floristry for members of the Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust.
The weekly classes will run for four weeks and basically gives attendees full, hands-on experience in a floristry shop.
As a Learn Local provider, Orbost Education Centre can provide flexible short courses that can be tailored specifically to suit the community need.
“It is fabulous to be able to offer this great course to the Lake Tyres Aboriginal Community” manager of Orbost Education Centre, Merralyn Barnes, said.
Owners and tutors of Forget Me Not Studio Kirsty Wain and Naomi Pryke have held many classes for various groups over the years.
They have just concluded all boys’ sessions in conjunction with East Gippsland Youth which they commented were brilliant.
They are actively looking for funding to keep these courses going and extend the age groups they work with.
“We see the benefits of these classes for all ages, but they are particularly valuable to younger people,” Kirsty said.
