The redevelopment of Forest Park in Orbost is progressing well, despite some delays caused by the recent wet weather.
The team is installing the new playground equipment, with most of the structure expected to be completed in a matter of days.
The new toilet block, built offsite by Built QA, has been craned into position and the fit-out is underway.
This work is being carried out alongside the construction of two new public shelters.
The reconstruction of the old timber-framed building, which includes a new roof, is ongoing.
This area will feature an open space with picnic settings and barbecue facilities.
Progress continues on the reconstruction of the roundabout, parking and long-vehicle parking. Kerb and channel work have been completed.
East Gippsland Shire Council’s contractor has revised its completion date of the end of August 2024.
However, some areas will remain fenced for short period to allow for vegetation growth.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work towards completing these upgrades,” East Gippsland Shire Council chief executive officer, Fiona Weigall, said.
“Planning and delivering an upgrade that meets the future needs of community and visitors to Forest Park is one of the ways we enrich the environment, lifestyle, and character of our communities.”
