On property field days begin next Monday, August 19, for Pendarra stud at Benambra, Roundhill stud at Omeo and Nicholson River, Nicholson.
The following day, Tuesday, August 20, there will be field days at the studs Stockton at Hillside, Macehill Merino, near the Munro Hall, and The Fringe at Briagolong.
Elders Bairnsdale Gippsland District wool manager, Madi Gallagher, said there would be 142 rams on offer, including 71 from the Pendergast family’s Pendarra stud, Benambra; 20 rams from the Ah Sam family’s Roundhill stud, Omeo; 20 from the Stewart family’s Stockton stud, Hillside.
The Freeman family, The Fringe will offer 12 rams; in their second year at the sale the Nicholls family, of Macehill Merino will offer 12 rams, and there will be 6 from the Pemberton family, Nicholson River.
“At the ram sale, rams will be available for inspection on the day from 9am,” Ms Gallgher said.
“They will be sold via an open cry auction, but the sale will also be run in conjunction with AuctionsPlus.”
She said there was a selection of rams available to suit a range of programs and price points, including a selection of mulesed and non-mulesed rams to meet growing demands.
“Gippsland Merinos are well renowned for their bright, white and free growing wool which performs well in a range of conditions,” she said.
“The rams on offer this year are a testament to the breeders who are continually working to produce profitable and impressive rams.”
