As Christmas approaches, the Orbost Christmas Eve Festival Committee has ramped up its efforts to ensure this year’s celebration is bigger and better.
Traditionally a highlight on the town’s events calendar, the festival has consistently drawn praise from the community for its festive atmosphere, engaging activities, and strong sense of togetherness.
This year, however, the committee is looking to build on that success.
Recognising the importance of public input, the committee launched a social media survey on Tuesday, August 13, aiming to gather feedback and new ideas for the event.
“The response has been overwhelming,” committee member, Samantha Reynolds, said.
“We weren’t sure how many people would take the time to participate, but the results have shown not only strong support for the event but also a clear desire to see it grow even further.”
As excitement for the festival builds, the committee is keen to meet the community’s call for expansion. However, they emphasise the need for more volunteers to help bring the event to life.
“We’re always welcoming new people to volunteer their time to help run the festival,” Ms Reynolds said.
“While not everyone may want to join the committee itself, we believe we could offer more activities with the help of some local volunteers on the evening.
“We understand wholeheartedly that it is Christmas Eve and you will want to spend that time with your family members but it is important that the community understands that the event is ran by volunteers whom also have families and even volunteering your time for an hour, could make a mammoth difference to other volunteers.”
The committee is encouraging anyone interested in helping out to reach out.
