The winter season at the Orbost Basketball association culminated last Saturday, with four action packed mixed grand finals conducted last week.

Proceedings began with the under 10s finale, which was a low-scoring affair, with the Hippos coming from behind at half time to win 4-2 over the Giraffes.

As part of the presentation the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the season were presented, with Joe Millward winning the boys section and Molly Hardy the girls division.

The Yellow Legends opened an early break in the under 12 final, converting a seven-point half time advantage into a nine point victory over Black Stars.

Chad Russell led the scoring for the Yellow Legends with 18 points, with Chad Rogers sinking 13 for the Black Stars.

Russell was the boys MVP, with Layla Burn winning the girls.

The Alley Oops led from start to finish in the under 14s, winning by 14 points from Ball Hogs, 51-37.

Charlie Joiner (21 points) and Gemma Geer (22) were both outstanding for Oops, while Mitch Herbert never stopped trying for the Ball Hogs, shooting 15 points.

Herbert won the boys MVP and Geer the girls.

The under 17s was a hard-fought encounter, with the Wildcats gaining an ascendancy late in the first half and toughing it out to defeat the Flyers, 37-30.

Rusty Morrison had a huge game, grabbing rebounds at will, shooting a game high 24 points.

Angus Joiner led the way for the Flyers with 18 points.

Morrison capped off a big season with the MVP, while Maki Edlington was the girls winner.
