The Orbost Studio for Dance Research held another open studio event for the local community on Saturday, September 14.
Polish artists, Aleksandra Bożek-Muszyńska (Warsaw) and Monika Kiwak (Krakow) performed alongside their coach, Orbost performer, Andrew Morrish.
Aleksandra and Monika came from Poland to Orbost to work with Andrew.
Specialising in performance improvisation, Aleksandra and Monika received coaching, shared performance practice.
As part of their residency they billeted with a local, and made connections with local residents with Polish heritage, appreciating a chance to get to know life in Orbost.
They have now travelled to Melbourne where they performed at Dancehouse, Carlton on September 24.
The Orbost Studio for Dance Research is hosting international artist residency exchanges throughout 2024 with artists from Sweden, Germany and Poland.
This has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
Aleksandra Bożek-Muszyńska’s visit was also supported by Adam Mickiewicz Institute’s, “Polish culture worldwide” program and a Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, 2024 Scholarship.
