The Gippsland East Higher Education Study Hub (GEHE Study Hub) officially launched its newest site in Orbost last Wednesday.
This expansion is part of a joint partnership between the Gippsland East Local Learning and Employment Network and the Orbost Education Centre.
With existing campuses in Bairnsdale and Sale, the new Orbost location is one of several new sites, alongside planned expansions in Mallacoota, Omeo, Yarram and Heyfield.
The project is part of a larger $16 million initiative to establish 10 new regional university study hubs across Australia.
The Regional University Study Hubs program (formerly the Regional University Centres program) aims to improve access to tertiary education for students in regional and remote areas.
The GEHE Study Hub makes higher education more accessible for regional communities, boosting university participation and completion rates, especially among underrepresented groups.
Students from across East Gippsland and Wellington Shires, whether enrolled in any Australian university, TAFE, or completing their final year of VCE, are encouraged to take advantage of the facilities and services offered at the hub. From Certificate I to PhD and every level of study in between, the hub provides free resources to help students succeed without the need to relocate away from their families, friends, or jobs to pursue higher education, allowing them the opportunity to study close to home with the support of the Gippsland East Study Hub, ensuring they have the resources they need to achieve their goals.
