The Orbost Ambulance Auxiliary has made a significant contribution to the local community by donating two publicly accessible automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
The donation took place on Tuesday, October 15, at the SES Driver Reviver site at the Newmerella Recreation Reserve and the Newmerella BP service station.
The two AEDs are now available for public use at these locations, providing vital life-saving equipment in these two local high-traffic areas.
The event also featured a “Call, Push, Shock” demonstration led by Orbost Ambulance community officers, showcasing how to properly use an AED during an emergency as part of Ambulance Victoria’s Shocktober campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of AEDs in responding to cardiac emergencies.
The auxiliary’s donation ensures that more people in the community have immediate access to life-saving tools in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, where every second counts.
The community is encouraged to learn more about AED usage and for those interested, Orbost Ambulance community officers are available to answer any questions and provide further information.
The demonstration was part of a broader effort to improve public understanding of first-response techniques and AED functionality, which can be critical in saving lives.
