Orbost has finished runner-up to West Bairnsdale in the Bairnsdale Cricket Association 20/20 grand final, played at the Hudson Alvin Oval last Saturday.
The Blues sent West in to bat and restricted them to 6/145 from their 20 overs, which is a case of what might have been for Orbost, several chances proving costly.
Several times Orbost worked its way back into the contest, only for sloppy fielding to intervene once again.
Among the runs for West were Mitchell Toms (38), Sam Stewart (30) and Atley Williams (32).
Alex Hulme was the pick of the bowlers for Orbost taking 2/22.
In reply the Blues limped to 7/91 from their 20 over allocation, with several batsmen not happy with their dismissals.
Earlier in their semi-final match, the Blues came off the canvas, after Wy Yung looked set to win at Bullumwaal Road.
Orbost batted first, registering a respectable 7/121, highlighted by 31 from Jayden Price, with cameo roles from Mikael Hulme (21), Luke Endley (18), Freddie Wilkinson (12) and Alfie Lindsay (11).
Luis Wilson was menacing with the ball for the Tigers, picking up 3/19 from his four overs.
In reply, Wy Yung looked to be cruising at 4/103 with skipper, Cameron McPhan (57 from 47) and Stevie Bertino (20) in full flight, but when Bertino holed out Price off Endley, the scoring rate dried up and the Tigers could only muster 9/116.
Ben Channing contributed 16 in the middle order for the Tigers, with Nick Davis (3/15) and Nick Hulme (2/18), among the wickets for the Blues.
Regular cricket resumes on Saturday with hosting Metung Swan Reach in a one day fixture at home.
Currently sitting on the bottom of the ladder, it will be a chance for the Blues to bank some much needed points, against an opponent who is struggling.
If Orbost can post one of those scores of over 200 that it is more than capable of making, it should bank six valuable points.
It’s a chance for a player like Jayden Price to cash in with a big score.
In “B” grade, Orbost will play West Bairnsdale at the Bairnsdale City Oval, while the junior competition resumes this week after the school holidays, with the under 13s playing against Lucknow and the under 16s playing Lindenow South Glenaladale at the Glenaladale Recreation Reserve.
