Debbi Gray held a book launch at the Mechanics Hall last Friday with a large crowd in attendance to hear her speak.
A Simple Twist of Fate is now in its third print, with the book proving very popular. Debbi has been amazed and humbled that so many want to read her story.
Elaine Medhurst, from Lakes Books and Games, introduced Debbi to the enthusiastic audience and invited MP Darren Chester to speak.
Mr Chester spoke of how Debbi is a very special person, who doesn’t think she is special.
“She has had the courage to overcome being a three-foot eight-inch person in a world of six-foot people,” he said.
“She never accepted her challenges would stop her and despite her small stature, she is a giant in our community.”
Debbi then spoke at length of her adventures and her wonderful family and sent a message of independence and strong will to the audience.
“When I spoke at schools I would always talk about ability not disability,” she said.
She was up for any adventure and emphasised that with a smile on your face, no matter where you are in the world, people will help you.
Lakes Entrance Library then presented an afternoon tea for all to enjoy.
