The 2025 Australian Bass Tournaments (ABT) Bream series rolled on quickly to round two in Mallacoota on the weekend, after beginning last week on the Gippsland Lakes.
The Mallacoota event was dominated by Mark Healey, who took out the coveted boater section, as well as taking the cash for landing the biggest fish.
It was his eighth tournament win in the last three years.
Healey backed up his win in the corresponding event last year, though he conceded it was tougher than last year.
“After a slow pre-fish, it was good to tap into some nice fish down the front, both days at a 40 minute bite window,” Healey said.
Healey mastered 56 other captains, his 10 fish haul tipping the scales at just over nine kilograms (9.128kgs), earning an extra $500 for his 1.319kg specimen, which was 39 centimetres long.
Trailing Healey at the pointy end were Mario Vukic (8.889kgs), carrying on his good form from Metung and Steve Morgan (8.466kgs).
Tim Atkins (4.881kgs) secured his first ABT win in the non boater category for his impressive six bream haul.
Atkins’ finished ahead of Allan Lavell (4.858kgs) and early leader, Harry Young (4.652kgs)
Both winning anglers have earned the qualifying spots in the 2025 ABT grand final which will be held across Marlo and Bemm River in October.
Round three of the eight round series will be contested at Clarence River in New South Wales on March 29-30.
