It was a disappointing loss for the third-ranked Orbost Snowy Rovers in the reserves last Saturday against Stratford at the Boyd Recreation Reserve.
The Swans went into the match in fifth position on the table but after their 82-point shellacking of the Blues, they moved up to fourth, trailing Orbost by just percentage.
Stratford kicked five goals to one in a fast moving opening term, restricting the Blues who had looked in impressive in three unbeaten matches prior to just two majors for the day.
The second half mirrored the first, with seven
goals to one kicked, as the Swans cashed in on midfield dominance.
They had players like Jacob Bennett, James Channing, Dylan O’Shanassy, Jackson Cottrell and Thomas Brew in their side, who have played their fair share of senior players.
O’ Shanassy booted three goals, while the best for the Blues were Lachlan Osborn, coach Andrew Kenny, Jason Eaton, Hayden Kenny and
Lachlan Barnes.
It was another exciting performance from the Blues thirds, who
bounced back from last week’s defeat to the unbeaten Lindenow.
Orbost restricted Stratford to just a solitary goal, while kicking 13 of its own, with incorrect goal kicking restricting the winning margin to 80 points.
Kruze Farley was dynamic in his first match for the season, kicking seven goals while the reliable Angus Joiner slotted an impressive four.
Among the best for
the Blues were Thomas Joiner, Bobby Bills, Finn Donnellan, Jet Kane, Jack Barnes and Fletcher Kleinitz.
Orbost will enjoy a bye this week before making the trek to Bairnsdale to do battle with Lucknow in round six on May 24.
