Car enthusiasts are being urged to mark their calendars, as The Lakesters Rod and Custom Club East Gippsland prepares to host its annual Bairnsdale Swap Meet on Sunday, September 21 at the Lucknow Recreation Reserve.
Now a regular fixture on the swap meet calendar that attracts visitors from interstate, the event offers the perfect opportunity for locals to turn their unwanted trash into cash or uncover that one-of-a-kind treasure they’ve been searching for.
Attendees can expect a fantastic day out for the whole family, with a massive display of hot rods, custom and restored cars, rat rods, bikes, and restored trucks on show.
The swap meet itself will feature everything from garage cleanouts to unique “old skool cool” finds, alongside a variety of food stalls.
A major highlight of the day will be the Show and Shine competition, inviting all car, bike, and truck enthusiasts to cruise in, park up, and share their passion with like-minded folks. Trophies for the ‘Sponsor’s Choice’ awards will be proudly presented by local businesses including Tambo Marine, 1st Class Restorations, Omeo Motel, Mick’s Auto Glass, Baileys Wash and Vac, Bairnsdale Radiators, East Gippsland Fencing and Contracting, Riviera Exhaust, Doyle and Shields, and Wayne and Dianne Howe.
In a wonderful community gesture, all proceeds from the Show and Shine entries will be donated directly to this year’s chosen charity, Melons Cottage in Lakes Entrance.
Club president Dean Herbert encouraged all locals to get involved.
“It’s just a great day out for the community,” Mr Herbert said.
“We’d love to see as many cool local rides as possible come down and be part of the show. It’s a great chance to park up, enjoy the atmosphere, and chat with fellow enthusiasts.”
The club also extends its special thanks to the A.S.R.F, Aussie Septic Solutions, Signline, Rivera Joinery, and Stothers Music and Hi Fi for their continued support.
