The Rotary Club of Orbost is calling for nominations for the 2020 Australia Day Orbost Community Awards with award nominations open for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and Community Event of the Year.
The citizen awards recognise people who have made a noteworthy contribution to the community during the current year, or who have given outstanding service to the community over a number of years.
Nominees for the Citizen of the Year Award must be 27 years of age or older, while Young Citizen of the Year nominees must be younger than 27 on January 26, 2020.
The Community Event of the Year recognises an outstanding event held in the community during the 12 months to November 30, 2019.
Nomination forms are available from the East Gippsland Shire Business Centre, Ruskin Street, Orbost, or from the East Gippsland Shire website.
Nominations are to be lodged with The Secretary, Rotary Club of Orbost, by November 30.
As the awards are determined from nominations submitted to a selection committee, it is important that a wide range of nominations are received that reflect the large number of citizens and events in our community worthy of special recognition on Australia day.
The awards are a highlight of the Australia Day breakfast celebration in Forest Park, a tradition that started in 1999, organised by the Rotary Club and supported by East Gippsland Shire Council.
The Rotary Club of Orbost looks forward to the community’s participation in Australia Day through making nominations for the Australia Day Awards.
