Christmas is upon us and now that Nicholson Street has been decorated, the community Christmas wreaths, made by school children, are proudly being displayed in shop windows.
The Lucky Shopper contest is also underway with the first winner of the weekly draw being announced last Friday. Steve
Robinson was the first winner. Steve was presented with his $100 worth of Orbost and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry vouchers on Monday morning by secretary, Garry Squires. The State Government on Sunday announced new requirements for events to have an approved COVID-Safe plan and the Orbost festival committee has been working diligently to ensure the annual Christmas Eve Festival gets the tick of approval.
“The festival organising committee has submitted a plan and is still waiting for approval of that plan from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS),” chamber secretary,
Garry Squires, said. “In the meantime preparations are still proceeding for the festival and either once a decision has been made by DHHS then the committee will begin to circulate the information in relation to how the event may be ran in a COVID- safe manner, which may be somewhat different to our usual proceedings.”
