The East Gippsland Winter Festival bounced open its doors a fortnight ago with Orbost taking its turn in the spotlight last Saturday.
Hundreds of locals and visitors alike popped on their winter woolies and rugged up to join in what turned out being a spectacular evening where Orbost lit up for its lantern parade.
These events don’t just happen and a lot of hard work had gone in to pull this one together with the lead being taking by Amber Wade who was beaming on Saturday night.
“The Orbost community has really supported me to pull this together,” she said.
“It’s been amazing to see the different organisations, groups, volunteers and agencies who have funded the project to come together and collaborate. It’s just so cool.”
Beginning at Forest Park from 4.30pm people were given lights and poles to light up their lanterns that various community groups, Lochiel House, schools and individuals have created in recent weeks during workshops or in their own homes.
