With only days left until the East Gippsland Winter Festival wraps up for its second year, Orbost’s main street is gearing up for its main event: the lantern parade this Saturday.
Event organiser, Amber Wade, is expecting a bigger and well-attended community event, hoping to turn Nicholson street into “a sea of warmth” this weekend.
“We had a grandfather attend a lantern-making workshop with his two grandsons, together they made a lantern in the shape of a seahorse. The grandfather asked to take some supplies home to make a second seahorse, because the animals mate for life,” Amber explained.
“It’s been hugely successful, it’s been great seeing people come together.”
There will be one more lantern-making workshop at the Orbost Neighbourhood House tomorrow Thursday, July 7, from 1-4pm.
