Orbost Cricket Club has won the Bairnsdale Cricket Association “A” grade premiership.
The Blues easily accounted for Lindenow South Glenaladale by 148 runs at Paynesville’s AJ Freeman Reserve on Sunday, completing a near-perfect season in which they only lost one match.
Man of the match, opening batsman, Dylan Jordan, set the tone in the opening hour on Saturday.
Winning the toss and batting first, Jordan blasted 69 from 86 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, putting on an even 100 for the first wicket alongside English import, Tom Moulton (51 off 154 balls).
The Bulls fought back during the middle overs, however Orbost opened the shoulders in the final hour, powering to a total of 269 – the highest grand final total since season 2005/06 when Lakes Entrance scored 8/274 against St Mary’s Nagle at Wy Yung.
