Predicted bad weather held off last Friday morning for the annual Australia Day breakfast and award presentation at Orbost’s Forest Park.
Orbost Rotary Club had the eggs and bacon sizzling on the barbecue, feeding the generous crowd which flocked to watch the kids games and awards ceremony.
Royston “Doc” Nettleton took out Orbost’s Citizen of the Year for his years of work at the Orbost Snowy Rovers Football Netball Club (OS-RFNC), as well as his work in mental health.
Arriving straight off his farm, Doc made himself presentable by turning his farming shirt inside-out before accepting his award.
Doc started playing football through the juniors in the Sunday competition, he had his first game inthe under 17 Orbost busters Green and Gold team as a 13-year-old.
