Ensay and Swifts Creek communities recently held a successful inaugural Tour de Tambo Family Cycling event as part of the East Gippsland Winter Festival.
The event attracted more than 60 cyclists from across East Gippsland as well as local riders.
The route for the self-guided event followed the beautiful Tambo River along the picturesque and safe back roads from Swifts Creek to Ensay and return, with a lunch stop at Ensay.
Riders enjoyed tasty homemade soup, gourmet pies and slices at the newly renovated Ensay Memorial Hall.
It was a perfect sunny winter’s day, and riders christened the new deck while sharing lunch in this stunning and tranquil setting.
The route options available, supported by a shuttlebus as needed, was suitable for a wide range of ages and experience including primary-aged children.
Participants were enthusiastic in their enjoyment of the day.
The weather was perfect with groups from Swifts Creek and Ensay as well as Orbost collaborating to ensure the event was successful.
Tour de Tambo was generously funded by the Gippsland Community Foundation who are very supportive of the Ensay community together with the event partner Snowy River Cycling.
