The 2024 Frocks and Fillies Long Lunch, held on October 19, was a resounding success, raising an impressive $15,228 to support breast cancer patients in East Gippsland.

With the sun shining brightly, guests enjoyed a fantastic afternoon filled with live music, wonderful food and plenty of community spirit.

The event also marked 15 years of the committee forming, with past committee members also in attendance and enjoying the day.

Hosted at Bairnsdale Racing Club, who generously provided the venue free of charge, the event saw an outstanding turnout, with attendees coming together for a cause close to their hearts.

Guests indulged in a delicious spread catered by the talented team at Albert and Co, while enjoying the live musical talents of Jay Wagstaff, who also donated his time and performance to support the fundraiser.

The day’s entertainment featured raffles and auctions which raised significant funds, with many local businesses generously contributing prizes and auction items.

Oby1Creation added a special touch by creating a beautiful balloon arch for photo opportunities, and Precision Etch provided a memorable souvenir glass for all ticket holders.

Local lady Leah Mills took out the coveted ‘best dressed’ title which included a cash prize of $250, generously sponsored by Independent Builders Gippsland.

“The committee is incredibly proud of what we achieved for this event, and we’re so grateful for the amazing support from our community,” Rachel Wagstaff, president of the Breast Care Support Fund of East Gippsland, said.

“Every single dollar raised will go directly towards providing much-needed assistance and simple pleasures to breast cancer patients during such a challenging time. We are also proud that every dollar we raise stays in our local East Gippsland area.”

The event was a true community effort, with businesses, sponsors and volunteers all coming together to make the day a great success. The committee is already looking forward to hosting its next event next year and continuing to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by breast cancer in East Gippsland.
