A new initiative by the Orbost and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with the Orbost Club Hotel, begins today, with shoppers in for a chance to win shopping vouchers simply by finding lucky $5 notes circulating in the community.
For the next five weeks, the serial number of a $5 note will be recorded and advertised in both the Snowy River Mail and on posters displayed throughout the town. The $5 note is then released into circulation and anyone who locates it has until noon the following Monday to present it to chamber president, Susan Hooper, at 442 Travel, 8/144 Nicholson Street, Orbost, to claim that week’s prize.
If the $5 is not located by the following Monday then a new lucky number will be advertised in the next Snowy River Mail and the prize will jackpot.
The first lucky number is advertised in this edition of the Snowy River Mail and on posters around local businesses. Shoppers will have until noon next Monday, August 5, to present the note to win.
With the promotion running for five weeks there will be a potential jackpot of $1000 worth of vouchers up for grabs.
“The aim of the Lucky Fiver promotion is to create a buzz within the town and to promote people to be spending money locally where possible,” Susan said.
“When you shop locally, you are not only supporting the local economy and the employment of local people but you are also indirectly supporting your wider community.
“Local businesses sponsor and support local events, groups, schools and sporting groups.
“In addition, local business owners also live in the area and contribute back through not only their business but also through volunteering and other in-kind activities that are vital for the community as a whole.”
See advertisement on page 3 of this paper for details and this week’s lucky serial number.
